Now listing healthy treasures in five states, the new map is bound in to a quarterly newsletter called Wellness Insights. In 2003 it started as a brochure-sized foldout map covering part of MA only, but has grown in pages, listings, circulation and geography over three editions. The attractive 12-pager going to 100,000 organic shoppers throughout MA, RI & CT, as well as the Chicago and Philadelphia areas has a mission "to raise awareness of natural alternatives which constitute a better long-term choice, and to help inform people who wish to improve their health through more natural means." It starts out by listing seven good reasons to Go Organic, and ends by mentioning concepts that consumers should get to know better, such as probiotics, miso, spelt and foot massage. In between Wellness Insights has fresh articles on natural healing methods, stress reduction, eliminating chemicals from the home, and an interesting take on dietary improvement in our communities.Sponsors include Whole Foods (Nasdaq: WFMI), Wild Oats (Nasdaq: OATS), several national food brands such as Annie's Homegrown, Frey Vineyards and Sunshine Burgers, and many other local and regional home services, natural healing providers and healthy restaurants and nutrition experts. There are also several non-profits listed on the map.According to Publisher David Kagan, "We pay the price for convenience in our society. If you take a medication for arthritis or hayfever, you can probably accomplish the same result through dietary or household changes, avoiding the expense and the problems caused by many of these drugs. If we can educate ourselves to take charge of our own wellness, we can live longer, more satisfying lives, without the expense and risk of medical intervention. It's worth the extra effort to find healthier choices." Kagan hopes to expand the publication into many other areas of the country next year.Wellness Insights can be downloaded at OrganicTreasureMap.com, where one will also find a kids' page, or picked up at local organic stores such as Whole Foods and Wild Oats or from local sponsors.AdvertisementSource: On Time ProductionsAXcess News will be reporting on any new market trends related to this story.
